This bus stop is where the streetcars used to turn around to return north to Minneapolis along Bloomington. That was when 54th Street marked the southern boundary of the city. My dad, who told me this, used to drive busses and is a huge train enthusiast. When meeting someone new, he'll ask where they're from. And if they are reluctant to name their small town, he'll encourage them to name it anyway. More often than not, he'll be able to reply with something like, “Oh, sure. That's where the Soo Line has their switching yard.”
