For nearly 20 years, our South Minneapolis neighborhood have been putting on this community garage sale. People come from all over on the second Saturday after Labor Day. Our garage had the best sale the year that four households filled it to overflowing. Another year we baked muffins with real fruit and sold them at a loss. Then there was the year someone parked in our driveway. I wanted to get my car out of the garage and they were blocking my exit. So I put a sign on their car, “100 dollars or best offer.” I got my car out pretty quickly.
